Job Accountabilities
- Monitor the performance of other vessels by regular follow ups and secure an on-arrival berth.
- Ensure timely, attentive and responsible communication with principals, ports/terminals, master of vessels and customers.
- Preparation of accurate declarations by proper updating of the local computer system in order report the same to local authorities.
- Arrange the following by coordinating and reporting to the respective authorities to facilitate smooth vessel berthing at any main Port of Sri Lanka,
- Timely Provisional Payments (Declare to finance dept), Timely vessel line-up at port, Dangerous Cargo (DG) reporting – MOD /Ports Authority, Reporting ISPS – SL Navy, reporting to MEPA (Waste information of vessels), Customs overtime – SL Customs, Reporting TS Deposit/Reshipment – SL Customs, EDI transmission to terminals (Assisted by Customer service dept), Discharge/Load stowage plans to terminals
- Board the vessel to coordinate with vessel command and port authority/terminal to facilitate safe and quality cargo operations to ensure principal and customer satisfaction.
- Smooth TS connection by coordinating with principals/origin port agents/terminals.
- Prepare and submit accurate departure/sailing reports on time.
- Build strong relationships with port authority, terminals, and customers through visits and engagements.
- Pass invoices on time by accurately verifying charges, documents and debit instructions to avoid penalties.
- Maintain quality standards by following set processes.
- Respond to inquiries within 24 hours to ensure customer/principal satisfaction.
- Coordinate special vessel arrangements with the operations Manager.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION
- Bachelor’s degree approved by UGC or an equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience OR
- 6 passes with ‘C’ for Mathematics and English at the GCE O/Levels or London O/Levels AND
- Minimum 2 passes for A/L’s OR successful completion of UGC approved A/L equivalent foundation course with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in customer service in the shipping industry.
- Excellent command of the English language (written and oral).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to think and perform independently.
- Willingness to work long hours and hold a driving license.
