POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting Analysis assist in the Company’s General and Administrative (G&A) budgeting and forecasting process, and associated reporting. This role will routinely interact closely with various G&A department leaders and all levels of Management. This role also serves a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely recording of transactions for Cheniere Energy, Inc. and its subsidiaries subject to external reporting requirements. The position is responsible for preparing accounting entries, performing month-end closing processes and financial analysis, researching historical balances, and performing ad hoc reporting and analysis. In addition, the role will assist in managing and accounting for the Company’s Corporate Projects. The role will report to the Manager of Corporate Accounting Analysis. The role is expected to improve efficiency and build stronger controls over our accounting, budgeting, forecasting, analyzing and reporting process.

 

KNOWLEDGE

Must have strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP with experience in FP&A. Effective communication, organizational and relationship-building skills are critical. Must have a high attention to detail, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and work independently.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes of Corporate G&A departments
  • Prepare monthly G&A financial results to review with department heads to confirm accuracy and proper future forecast
  • Help train and support Corporate G&A Hyperion users to ensure budget/forecast is properly inputted
  • Formulate, recommend and implement initiatives to drive effective accounting, forecasting and budgeting process
  • Prepare detailed variance explanations for preparation of executive reporting packages
  • Develop interdepartmental relationships to ensure positive and successful interactions with key stakeholders
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues requiring explanations and interpretation
  • Prepare journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Additional assignments as assigned by the Manager of Corporate Accounting Analysis

 

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

Education and Certifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required. CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA license is required for this role.

 

Experience: Minimum three (3) years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in accounting analysis and/or financial reporting. 

 

Skills

  • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Effective time management skills and detailed oriented
  • Ability to think critically and independently
  • Organized and able to manage multiple activities timely and with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent personnel management skills
  • Ability to work effectively on short notice and off hours as required
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others. 
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
