Compensations (Based on experience): 100,000 - 160,000
The Director of Revenue Cycle (Director) provides strategy, direction, and leadership over Esperanza’s Revenue Cycle initiatives. The Director provides leadership over Esperanza’s billing department and sets goals and objectives in accordance with Esperanza’s long-term strategic plans and annual goals. The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
General:
- Provide leadership to Esperanza's billing department, composed of one Revenue Cycle Manager, one Lead Billing Coordinator, and external billing company.
- Implement goals and objectives outlined in Esperanza's Strategic Plan
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, as assigned.
Revenue Cycle:
- Manage relationships with 3rd party payers.
- Set goals and objectives for the Billing department in accordance with Esperanza's long-term strategic plans and annual goals.
- Implement processes and reporting mechanisms to monitor department performance and progress towards goals.
- Working with Revenue-Cycle Manager, identify and troubleshoot areas that are falling behind standards and goals, and identify solutions.
- Communicate with clinical, operations, and HR staff regarding any coding, credentialing, or operational problems or opportunities affecting the revenue cycle.
- Assist site leadership in completing annual audits, operational site visits, or other reviews of billing operations.
- Responsible for payer contracting and negotiations, oversee credentialing vendor.
- Monitor official notices from Medicaid, Medicare, commercial payers, and HRSA and advise CFO of any potential risks and opportunities.
Requirements
- Three years of management-level experience in FQHC revenue cycle with expertise in billing and collections.
- Preferred, but not required - bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Proficiency with AthenaHealth EMR system
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Proficiency in downloading and manipulating large data sets
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance rules
- Knowledge of HRSA sliding scale policies
- Knowledge of billing procedures and medical terminology
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to interact with staff, insurance companies, and vendors in a professional manner.
