Job Description Summary
Electrification East Asia & Australia Statutory and Tax sub region Controller will coordinate all statutory financial filings including statutory audits with internal and external partners and oversee transactional taxes’ filings and assure local compliance for the entities and countries in scope. This individual will expand responsibilities across the entities and countries to ensure statutory and tax compliance and support in to integrate and develop common policies, procedures, and guidelines to help ensure the business meets its statutory reporting obligations and completes all associated reconciliations (stat. to GAAP).Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and submission of statutory financial statements for 25 entities spread across 9 countries, ensuring full compliance with local accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Own the full statutory audit lifecycle, from planning to execution and final filings, across central and local audits.
- Drive timely audit closures with high quality, acting as the primary point of contact and escalation with internal and external auditors
- Build strong partnerships and maintain effective communication with internal cross-functional stakeholders (Regional business line, Tax, Legal, Treasury, Operations) and external auditors to ensure smooth audits and alignment on financial reporting matters.
- Lead the implementation of a consistent and standardized statutory deliverable model, including policies, procedures, and delivery practices across the sub-region.
- Oversee and ensure seamless integration of new business landscape, into the existing framework.
- Oversee region transactional taxes (VAT) filings and assure local regulators’ compliance
- Monitor and enforce compliance with key statutory and tax KPIs and proactively identify and address gaps or risks in statutory delivery and regulatory reporting.
- Lead sub-regional controllership teams comprising of 9 team members spread across multiple countries and having diverse cultures, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement and drive people-related initiatives including talent acquisition, onboarding, communication, training, performance management, and career development.
- Apply professional judgment and technical expertise to resolve moderately to highly complex issues in statutory reporting and tax processes and provide innovative solutions to improve compliance, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Drive and lead lean and continuous improvement projects to optimize statutory reporting processes, reduce cycle time, and improve reporting quality and support automation, and standardization initiatives within the controllership function.
Required Qualifications
- Certificated Public Accountant, Commerce post qualification from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a controllership/accounting role in Grid and minimum of 10 years with GE and overall experience of 11+ years
- Strong technical acumen on US GAAP, IFRS and GE accounting policies and procedures
- knowledge on countries transactional taxes (VAT)
- Good knowledge on SAP, FDL, StatHFM
- Ability to manage multi-cultural teams and engage with a wide array of cross-functional and external stakeholders.
