The Assistant Vice President of Asset Management will oversee the complete lifecycle of vehicle recovery and remarketing — from locating and repossessing vehicles to preparing them for sale and maximizing return. This role manages the Directors of Remarketing, Repo Operations & Skip Work, Impounds, and Transport, along with the Senior Supervisor of Repo Titles. The AVP will be responsible for delivering rapid recovery timelines, reducing days-to-sale, and achieving the highest possible value for every asset while ensuring operational excellence and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end process to find, recover, and sell vehicles quickly and profitably.
  • Establish and track performance goals for speed-to-sale, recovery efficiency, and sale value.

Department Oversight

  • Direct the Director of Remarketing to develop competitive auction strategies, foster strong buyer relationships, and drive market-based pricing.
  • Manage the Director of Repo Operations & Skip Work to ensure effective vehicle location and repossession, including oversight of hundreds of agents and the internal skip tracing team.
  • Oversee the Director of Impounds to ensure fast and cost-efficient vehicle retrieval from impound lots.
  • Manage the Director of Transport to ensure prompt, reliable movement of vehicles to auctions or wholesale facilities.
  • Supervise the Senior Supervisor of Repo Titles to ensure all titles are requested, produced, and delivered to auctions without delay.

Operational Excellence & Technology

  • Implement a consolidated system for tracking repossessions, impounds, transport, and remarketing in one integrated platform.
  • Continuously improve processes to reduce delays, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve overall efficiency.

Partnership & Compliance

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with auction houses, buyers, repossession agents, transport vendors, impound operators, and title service providers.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing repossession, titling, and sales.

Performance & Budget Management

  • Monitor key performance indicators, including time-to-locate, time-to-repo, time-to-sale, and sale proceeds versus market benchmarks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Directors and the Senior Supervisor to achieve department and company objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets to ensure cost efficiency while maximizing ROI.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in asset management, repossession, remarketing, or related fields in the auto finance industry (preferred).
  • Proven success in vehicle recovery operations and maximizing auction returns.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple senior-level direct reports across different functions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven mindset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of laws and regulations related to vehicle repossession, titling, and sales.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with internal teams and external partners.

What’s the expected pay for this role?

  • $150,000 to $250,000 per year
  • The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
