What this role is all about:
Beem is investing significantly in a product-led operating model, and the Vice President, Product Management is responsible for building and leading a best-in-class Product Management team accelerating time to value. This role is both strategic and hands-on, ideal for a seasoned product leader who can elevate practices, align outcomes to corporate strategy, and dive deep when needed.
The VP, Product Management will shape the vision, priorities, and delivery of our product portfolios across Deposits, Lending, Payments, Small Business, Commercial, Wealth, and Digital Banking. As a steward of product excellence, this leader will champion modern product management approaches, support career growth, and ensure our teams are empowered to deliver exceptional value to members and the organization.
This role is open to hybrid working arrangements within B.C. While we welcome all applications, we anticipate filling this role with a candidate located in British Columbia.
What you’ll do:
Leadership & Organizational Impact
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Product Managers overseeing Beem’s most critical portfolios.
- Build a high-performing product culture grounded in accountability, delivery, innovation, and measurable outcomes.
- Conduct ongoing training, coaching, and feedback with team members through regular meetings and performance development.
- Champion people-first and digital-first product strategies that create / improve member value, profitability, and Beem’s market relevance.
- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of Beem’s strategic plan as well as the policies, programs, and strategies, ensuring the success of the Product & Innovation Group.
- Translate corporate objectives into portfolio-specific product strategies and OKRs.
- Partner with executive and senior leadership to ensure product investments align to business strategy, regulatory requirements, and growth goals.
Product Management Practice Maturity
- Evolve the product operating model to enable empowered, cross-functional teams with clear accountability, ensuring appropriate stakeholder inclusion, engagement, and communication.
- Drive adoption of modern product methodologies (e.g., dual-track Agile, outcome-driven roadmaps, discovery best practices).
- Establish best-in-class lifecycle management and product performance tracking standards across portfolios.
- Develop tools, frameworks, and coaching strategies to elevate product craft across all levels of the organization.
- Create and communicate department vision, strategies and objectives, ensuring understanding and alignment with business and teams.
Strategic Portfolio Oversight
- Accountable for the strategic planning and prioritization across the Product Management department, including Deposits, Lending, Payments, Small Business, Commercial, Wealth, and Digital Banking.
- Lead the overall preparation of business / product plans and key performance indicators (outcomes) including financial budget for products with the support from key stakeholders; ensures that activities are conducted within the budget when approved.
- Build and foster a culture of end-to-end ownership of product P&Ls, aligning to member needs (desirability), technology / risk considerations (feasibility) and commercial sustainability (viability).
- Foster partnerships across marketing, risk, operations, finance, legal, and technology to bring products to market efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain knowledge of the regulations and policies for Beem’s products, with an eye to leveraging changing market dynamics in product innovation.
Execution & Delivery
- Operate as both coach and player – able to roll up sleeves to support problem-solving, unblock delivery, and model best practices.
- Lead cross-functional governance and decision-making forums that align product and business execution.
- Champion data-informed decision-making, ensuring the right mix of member insights, analytics, and experimentation.
A little about your qualifications:
- 12+ years of progressive experience in product management, including 5+ years leading senior product managers or heads of product.
- Proven track record delivering strategic outcomes in financial services, fintech, or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale transformation or product operating model shifts.
- Deep expertise in product lifecycle management, member-centric design, product analytics, and Agile/Lean methodologies.
- Executive-level communication and influencing skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience owning P&Ls.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
What you’ll gain:
