Job Description
This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months’ experience. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Utilizes the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models as the frame of reference for practicing as a professional nurse. Participates in activities to develop own practice, and to support group practice goals at the unit level. Will be accountable to patient, family and team members for care provided and to the nurse manager for totality of work performance. Will be accountable to hold to the Service Standards and to the Nursing Mission, Vision and Values.
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment by proper cleaning, care and sterilization.
- Observes and watches the patient at all times, prior and post to induction, providing a safe environment through proper care and handling.
- Assists in maintenance, care and cleanliness of supplies.
- Assists in the inventory of supplies and equipment to assure availability and maintain set par level.
- Provides special equipment before, during and after a procedure according to need.
- Maintains traffic control through the use of proper areas and corridors at all times.
- Acts as preceptor for new orientees when requested.
- Wears appropriate clothing, hair coverings and masks in designated areas.
- Safely transports, transfers patients using appropriate body mechanics.
- Distributes supplies and equipment to suites as directed.
- Assists the surgical team when directed.
- Maintains awareness of safety hazards of equipment to prevent damage or harm to personnel and patients.
- Develops and promotes a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow health team members.
- Serves on committees, task forces, process action teams, public relations activities and/or work groups on a voluntary and appointment basis at the division and/or hospital level.
- Demonstrates compliance with patient safety and risk management protocols.
- Reports problems and resolutions of problems regarding patients, team members, visitors, etc. to nurse and is able to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Demonstrates self-directed learning initiatives and seeks ways to maintain current competency and respond to new clinical opportunities.
- Demonstrates skills and competencies for the preschooler, school age, adolescent, adult and elderly patient.
- Provides care in compliance with age-specific guidelines as outlined in departmental structural standards.
Qualifications
Education & Training:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
- BSN preferred.
- One year OR nursing experience required. Solid knowledge and clinical skills
- Current BLS card (AHA or American Red Cross), ACLS, PALS is required.
- Current CPR certification required
- Membership in AORN and CNOR certification strongly encouraged.
- Up-to-date status on all mandatory training and classes
- Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education every two years

Compensation:
- Full-Time/Days (8,10,12 hr. shifts) (1 weekend day shift every 6 weeks)
- Pay Range: $37-$54.18
- Other Compensation (if applicable): Shift Differential
- $15,000 Sing-on Bonus with a 2-year work commitment; some restrictions my apply
