Job Summary:
The Tax Associate will support the Repsol Renewables U.S. tax function, with responsibilities spanning indirect tax compliance and broader corporate tax matters. The role includes managing sales/use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax obligations, as well as supporting general tax compliance, tax accounting, research, and advisory activities. This position will collaborate closely with internal departments and external advisors to ensure timely filings, maintain compliance, and provide tax guidance on business initiatives, incentives, and tax credit–related matters.
The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the tax compliance calendar and ensure timely preparation, filing, and payment of sales/use tax, property tax, and other state and local taxes.
Review invoices, contracts, and purchase orders to determine taxability and issue/maintain customer exemption certificates.
Manage tax registrations, permits, and business licenses.
Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for tax accounts.
Oversee third-party preparation of property tax returns and related work papers.
Coordinate tax research and analysis for local tax incentives, property tax abatements, and tax credit–related matters.
Support corporate tax compliance, provision calculations, and reconciliations as needed.
Gather documentation and prepare responses for tax audits.
Collaborate with other departments to provide guidance on tax treatments and implications.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
3–5 years of professional U.S. tax compliance experience, including sales/use tax.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
CMI or CPA preferred; SAP and tax research tool experience a plus.
