Position Overview:
Navico Group is seeking a seasoned Battery Product Safety Compliance Engineer to lead our battery compliance efforts. The Engineer will be part of the Product Compliance Team and the role focuses on ensuring that our lithium-ion battery systems meet regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance standards specific to marine and recreational vehicle, and off-highway industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in battery technology, a deep understanding of international compliance standards, and experience with product certifications relevant to these market segments.

Essential Functions:
- Lead compliance activities for lithium-ion battery systems across the marine and RV product lines
- ·Ensure regulatory compliance for associated electrical and electronic devices, including:
- Battery chargers (shore and DC-DC)
- Power conversion devices (inverters, converters, MPPT controllers)
- Bluetooth and WiFi enabled components
- Digital switching systems including CAN-based control devices
- Interpret, apply, and track evolving global regulations including:
- CE, UKCA, FCC, RED, UL, UN38.3, IEC 62619, ISO 12405, etc.
- IMO, DNV and other maritime standards
- Coordinate testing and certification with third-party labs and notified bodies
- Collaborate with design and hardware teams to incorporate compliance requirements into early design phases
- Maintain documentation and prepare technical files for CE marking, type approvals, and other regional certifications
- Monitor changes in regulatory landscapes and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders
- Support cross-functional product teams with training and documentation for regulatory, safety, and labeling requirements
- Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to safety, compliance, or field incidents
- Participate in regulatory audits and deliver internal training on compliance topics.
- Support similar responsibilities for other Navico Group product categories as needed to support the business priorities.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in battery compliance, testing, or certification – preferably with lithium-ion batteries
- Familiarity with marine and/or RV regulatory environments and use cases
- Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and functional safety (ISO 26262)
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a global organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DNV certification or other marine-specific standards
- Prior experience preparing Technical Construction Files (TCF’s)
- Understanding of supply chain compliance impacts, including critical raw materials and end-of-life recycling
- Dutch language skills or additional European languages
Working Conditions:
- This position will be hybrid with 3 days a week onsite requirement.
- You will work in an office along with an engineering test lab.
