CACI is currently looking for a Personnel Security Officer to join our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Land Border Integration (LBI) Integrated Traveler Initiative ITI2.1 team in Northern Virginia! Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development and hardware integration for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
As a member of the ITI2.1 Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP Officers and Border Patrol agents are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

The Personnel Security Officer will support the ITI2.1 program by assisting the Government in assessing, validating, and certifying the trustworthiness of contractor personnel for access to sensitive information, through case management, adjudication, and due process. Responsibilities include review of CBP Background Investigation (BI) forms for accuracy; submission of security clearance documentation for BIs and clearances; maintaining personnel security records and databases used in the personnel security process; pre-screening BI candidates to determine their eligibility to occupy sensitive positions; checking the status of pending CBP BIs and maintaining suspense logs; preparing written reports and briefings as required; and other duties as assigned.
What you’ll get to do:
Serve as the Personnel Security Officer responsible for all activities associated with BIs and clearance processing:
Operate independently to manage security projects, continuously triage and prioritize accordingly, communicate clearly and compellingly
Support employees as they move through the clearance process to include prescreening and ensuring all required forms are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner
Continuously monitor processes and drive improvements in efficiency and quality of our personnel security programs
Demonstrate proficiency with the full suite of MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Effectively prioritize and execute tasks
Self-motivated, able to work with minimal day-to-day guidance and have the ability to own problems through to resolution
You have:
BA/BS in relevant field and five (5) or more years of relevant experience interpreting and enforcing Federal security requirements, Executive Orders, and other Agency specific regulations as it pertains to personnel security
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
Excellent written and oral reporting skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and customers across geographically dispersed sites
Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement in Sterling, VA
You are good at:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience participating in a high performing, highly engaged and team
Understanding of all elements of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Sensitive PII (SPII) security
Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong communication skills and work ethic; self-starter
Bonus would be having:
Experience with DHS BI process; or similar BI process

The proposed salary range for this position is:
