Job Description:

Job title: Internal Auditor

Location: Ludgate Hill, London

Salary: £55,000-£60,000 DOE

 Your new role

Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a unique and exciting opportunity for an Internal Auditor, with responsibility for Internal Audit & Internal Controls (J-SOX) activities, on a hybrid working pattern. You will play a key role in the continuous development of the audit, risk and compliance culture across the business. This is an ideal opportunity for a high-performing auditor who is ready to take the next step in their career.

Following a recent major acquisition, the Internal Audit & J-SOX department is overseeing IA & J-SOX Internal Controls integration activities within the new regions, whilst also ensuring business-as-usual with the delivery of the audit and J-SOX activities in the legacy business. With the business experiencing tremendous change and growth, it is an exciting time to join a team that is constantly looking to evolve and improve their ways of working, which creates a stimulating environment for exploring new ideas to support and add value to the business.

To succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate audit experience from either industry or public practice. You will have an inquisitive mind, with excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. This is a fast paced, varied role so it is key that you can adapt your approach to support business priorities and to work across various tasks, with different stakeholders and with cross-cultural teams.

The role will be based in the UK and will form part of a team serving a global remit. You will be working collaboratively with our international Internal Audit and J-SOX colleagues based in the UK, USA, Japan and Italy.

Some key role responsibilities would include:

  • Working closely with action owners to ensure appropriate implementation of agreed audit/J-SOX actions

  • Participate in J-SOX workshops, performing J-SOX controls testing and agreeing results with control owners

  • Playing an active role with stakeholder engagement for continuous development and awareness of the risk and controls’ culture across the business

  • Planning and execution of a wide range of internal audits

  • Preparing high quality working papers and audit reports, presenting audit findings to Auditees and Management in a clear and concise manner

  • Support and deputise for the Line Manager, including initiatives to drive consistency in the approach, processes and tools used across the wider IA functions

  • Provide audit support for group audits when required

  • Support the Line Manager with liaison and engagement with External Auditors, ensuring collaborative and cost-efficient working

  • Occasional domestic and international travel for J-SOX and audit engagements

About you

  • We are looking for a self-starter who is able and comfortable working on J-SOX and audit assignments with minimal support from the line manager and able to demonstrate resilience when managing and influencing stakeholders

  • Desirable: Qualified Accountant or Auditor (e.g. ACCA/ACA/IIA)

  • Experience of Audit / SOX / Internal Controls

  • Prior audit experience gained within practice or industry, ideally within a large, complex, multinational organization

  • Excellent MS Office Command (Excel, Word, Power Point)

  • Experience with SAP and/or Oracle would be beneficial

  • Previous experience in long term contract/project accounting would be beneficial

  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to work as part of an international and cross-cultural team

  • Must be able to travel occasionally for international J-SOX and IA assignments
