About the role
The Director of People and Culture forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Hotel or Resort. The Director will oversee all aspects of the People and Culture division, including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, training, workers compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees.
What you bring:
- College education or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of work experiences as Director of People & Culture within the hospitality industry or similar, with extensive professional experience in Korea.
- Previous Experience in a Director of People & Culture role required, preferably within a hospitality environment
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, conflict-resolution and strategic-thinking skills
- Solid experience in People Leadership and Strategy, Employee Relations and Engagement, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and Total Rewards
- Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken
- Requires working technical knowledge of Labor laws
- Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment
What you will do:
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the People and Culture division including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, learning and development, workers’ compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees.
- Monitor the quality of staff performance including review of disciplinary actions, recommendations for suspension or termination as well as establish a regular performance appraisal program for all staff.
- Influence the quality, content and intent of communications in the hotel and recommend the most effective vehicle of communication and the best channel to use in terms of ensuring that pertinent information is available to all levels of staff.
- Assess the development and effectiveness of all levels of employees and the manpower needs of the hotel using succession planning, and assisting management with career planning and counseling.
- Supervise the financial issues for the HR budget including benefits, labor & salary reports and plan cost effective events within the HR budget guidelines.
- Establish and implement recruitment, selection, placement and pre-employment procedures in accordance with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts’ policy and all applicable laws to include hiring, staffing guide and compensation guidelines
- Comply with and enforce Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact
- Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors while maintaining the confidentiality of Human Resources.
- Analyze hotel training and development needs at all levels and create or coordinate the creation of programs designed to make employees proficient
- in their delivery of core and culture standards and prepare them for promotion from within
- Plan and organize overall work requirements of the Human Resources Department and delegate job tasks
- Design and participate in salary surveys to provide an analysis and recommendation for salary and wage scales and ranges.
- Organize and supervise all employee recreation programs including holiday parties, children’s parties, general meetings, etc.
- Respond to and attend any related hearings for all employee claims against the hotel including NLRC(National Labor Relations Commission), MOEL(Ministry of Employment and Labor), Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment, and Wage & Hour.
- Actively support the Safety Committee.
- Ensure that the cafeteria, employee entrance, and lockers rooms are clean and orderly.
