About This Position

The 1st Pressman supervises all offset printing on his machine, insuring that the printing schedule is followed to meet printing deadlines and inspecting the quality of the printing products. This person also manages the maintenance on the printing press he/she is running to make sure that the machine is properly maintained to keep quality and production above standards. The 1st Pressman instructs the 2nd Pressman/ Feeder Operator on their daily duties.

Pay Range: Up to $80K DOE

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Set up print jobs according to the specifications on the job jacket(Ink, paper, etc.)
• Make sure printing supplies are available for the next job on the schedule(plates, paper, ink, coating, etc)
• Communicate with Pressroom Foreman on print schedules and due dates                                                                                                                   
• Makes sure quality standards are meet by inspecting color and register
• Compare printed sheets to approved Epson color proofs to insure color match
• Check lay out by ruling out a sheet and checking pagination.
• Insure that press is in top working order for production and quality
• Make sure that the press is properly greased and lubricated
• Change and set rollers when needed
• Clean press and preform housekeeping in press area
• Keeping press crew instructed on assignments each day
• Provides training, guidance or mentoring to team members; no formal supervisory responsibilities.
