Summary
Barry University’s Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program in the College of Health and Wellness is currently seeking an ASCP or AMT certified Medical Laboratory Scientist with a Master of Science (MS) degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or a closely related field to assist with teaching courses in the MLS specialization. Certified MLS applicants with PhD degrees in closely related science fields will also be considered. The ideal candidate will be available to teach either in-person classes or labs on main campus in Miami Shores or online classes, typically in the evening. The position may require teaching undergraduates in the Bachelor’s degree program and/or graduate students in the Master’s degree program. The adjunct faculty member will collaborate with other faculty within and outside of the department in the development and execution of this course.
The Clinical Laboratory Sciences program prepares students for professional careers as Medical Laboratory Scientists.
The program is fully accredited by NAACLS, and students are qualified to take the ASCP certification board exam upon successful graduation from either the BS or the MS training program.
This position is Hybrid.
Essential Functions
- Preparation of class materials to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses for the MLS specialization training programs
- Utilization of Canvas, Teams, and ExamSoft to manage and deliver the CLS lecture and lab courses.
- Delivery of undergraduate and graduate level lectures or labs--teaching either in an in-person lab practicum environment and/or an online lecture environment
- Assessment and grading of students enrolled in the CLS lecture and lab courses—submission of grades at the end of the semester.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A Master's degree in the field of Clinical Laboratory Sciences or a closely related field is required.
- ASCP or AMT certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist preferred.
Prior Teaching Experience.
- Basic experience with Canvas, MS Teams, and ExamSoft is required.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills as they relate to the preparation of lectures, assignments, and exam materials for teaching purposes.
