Position Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for leading the parts department to deliver exceptional customer service while achieving profitability goals. This role oversees purchasing, inventory control, merchandising, pricing, and team development to ensure the department runs efficiently and supports the needs of service, body shop, wholesale, and retail customers.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management

Hire, train, motivate, and coach parts department staff.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.

Hold weekly department meetings to align goals and expectations.
Financial & Inventory Management

Forecast department goals and implement strategies to achieve them.

Prepare and manage the annual operating budget.

Maintain a balanced inventory aligned with business needs.

Establish pricing parameters to maximize profitability while retaining customer loyalty.

Monitor inventory turns and ensure accurate tagging for factory credit recovery.

Analyze monthly sales, expenses, and inventory to maintain profit goals.
Operations & Customer Service

Oversee stock ordering procedures and enforce special-order policies.

Support internal service and body shop departments with timely parts delivery.

Develop and manage wholesale and retail parts programs.

Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Implement and enforce customer service standards to ensure high satisfaction.
Sales & Promotion

Develop sales promotions and take advantage of manufacturer co-op advertising.

Direct outside sales and telemarketing efforts to maintain strong customer relationships.

Track and analyze lost sales to identify opportunities for improvement.
Compliance & Safety

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations affecting parts sales.

Maintain OSHA compliance, including forklift training and SDS management.
-
Enforce safety protocols and cleanliness in the department.
Qualifications

Proven leadership experience in a dealership or automotive parts environment.

Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing, and pricing strategies.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead a team while achieving departmental goals.

Working knowledge of dealership systems, parts catalogs, and manufacturer ordering processes.
