Essential Job Duties:
- Answer telephone; Receive and enter requests from internal and external parties into Laboratory Information System
- Contacts clients for problem resolution
- Perform a variety of routine administrative tasks as it relates to pathology cases
- Troubleshoot and implement case corrections in Laboratory Information System
- Handle new account/client set up
- Maintain competency through web-based Standard Operating Procedure updates as well as educational modules
- Use automated lab equipment properly according to lab procedures and manufacturer's instructions
- Adheres to all PBM Safety policies and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies
- Learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices
- Protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times
- Ensure work area has proper coverage at all times during the work shift, ie coverage for meal and/or rest periods
- Immediately notifies supervisory personnel of malfunctioning instrumentation
- Handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of previous general pathology laboratory experience preferred
- Demonstrated verbal and written command of the English language; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team
- Ability to comply with HIPAA regulations
- Working knowledge of computer applications
- Demonstrated customer service focused skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a limited time frame
