Job Summary:

The Manager of Accounts Receivable will be responsible for formulating and maintaining effective collection policies, procedures, and standards. The selected candidate will ensure the timely collection of outstanding invoices and manage the cash applications process to ensure all cash receipts are applied correctly. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, self-motivation, and a strong desire for professional growth. A thorough understanding of industry practices, organizational needs, and general business conditions is essential.   • Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with internal and external customers. 
  • Study and develop policies and procedures for investigating, granting, and controlling credit, as well as collecting accounts due. 
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Credit Department, including phone collections, posting of incoming cash, inputting sales and adjustment changes, and credits to accounts. 
  • Interface with departments such as IT, Customer Service, and Marketing to ensure effective interdepartmental communication and information sharing. 
  • Investigate the credit standing of potentially large accounts, chain, and distributor accounts through credit reports or financial statement audits. 
  • Approve special payment plans for slow-paying accounts as recommended by subordinate staff, consistent with policies. 
  • Make final decisions on accounts to be referred to collection agencies or written off as bad debts. 
  • Prepare monthly KPIs to monitor team performance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Determine credit amounts to be extended and recommend working capital necessary to finance accounts receivable and provide reserves against bad debts. 
  • Represent the company in customer bankruptcy actions. 
  • Supervise the adjustment of customer claims and directs specific adjustments based on staff recommendations and policy. 
  • Lead and/or participates in projects, tasks, and initiatives to support current and future business operations and strategies. 
  • Assist in training sales representatives on credit policies, practices, and resources for potential customer financial assistance. 
  • Finalizes audit reports for internal and external auditors for SOX compliance and financial audits. 
  • Supervise delinquent account collection and interacts with third-party collection agencies and legal counsel. 
  • Prepare monthly cash forecast reports for the Americas and share results with the Americas controller for Treasury discussions. 
  • Ensure the department is PCI compliant. 
  • Recommend and drive continuous process and system improvements. 

Travel Requirements: 

Some travel may be required; Estimated to be 1-2 times per year 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to digest complex information and communicate it logically and actionably to others. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and drive projects to completion. 
  • Ability to treat customers as partners, not just accounts. 
  • Proven leadership and people management experience. 
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and draw sound conclusions to determine credit lines. 
  • Knowledge of accounting, commercial law, bankruptcy laws, UCC filings, and PCI compliance. 
  • Ability to read and interpret credit reports. 
  • Strong to advanced Excel experience. 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of credit and collection experience in a large firm or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years supervising or managing an accounts receivable/collections department or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience leading and managing projects. 
  • Experience working in a Shared Services Center business model. 
  • Familiarity with accounting and SOX environment 

Work Environment: 

  • This position will sit in our Victor, NY office 
  • This is an onsite 5-days a week in-office position  
  • Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job. 
  • Frequent telephone use and computer work.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $78,586 and $112,226 per year and may include cost of living adjustments.  The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
