Location: Downtown Indianapolis
Schedule:
Four 10-hour shifts per week: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Every third Saturday: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM: weekend shift differential pay
Some national holidays may be required; holiday shifts include differential pay
Position Summary:
The Registration Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and professional experience for patients from the moment they arrive. This position supports both clinical and administrative functions by:
Facilitating patient flow from entry to destination in a timely and courteous manner
Collecting and verifying financial and demographic information to support accurate billing and clinical documentation
Scheduling appointments and conducting patient interviews to gather necessary medical information
Explaining hospital and departmental policies, including charges
Validating and entering charges into appropriate systems
Answering incoming calls and directing patients and visitors appropriately
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Previous experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
Ability to learn and retain medical coding; familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
Understanding of insurance processes and clinical practices; knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
