Job Summary

The Department of Surgery is seeking a research coordinator to ensure the successful implementation of research projects in compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional standards. The role involves overseeing study protocols, managing research studies, ensuring participant safety, and maintaining accurate documentation as well as supporting the Principal Investigator in achieving research goals and milestones.

 

Responsibilities

·         Coordinating and managing research activities for clinical and non-clinical studies; from regulatory approvals to data collection and analysis, while ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

·         Ensure timely approval of study protocols as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements.

·         Prepare monthly progress reports and protocol modifications.

·         Ensure ethical adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GPC) standard.

·         Grant application and follow up.

·         Maintain compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.

·         Manage accurate records of personnel training documents.

·         Support the Principal Investigator (PI) in preparing the informed consent and participant information sheet to ensure informed consent is obtained from all consented participants.

·         Monitor participant safety throughout the study ensuring information privacy and confidentiality.

·         Support the PI in implementing and maintaining the study communication plan, by ensuring all approved communication is shared to individuals involved in the study promptly.

·         Maintain accurate and comprehensive study records securely as required.

·         Coordinate the procurement and management of study supplies.

·         Monitor and manage the study budget, ensuring all expenditures are within the approved budget.

·         Foster teamwork and collaboration with all research study team members and Pre-award, Award and Post-ward phase of the study.

·         Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.

 

 

Requirements

·         Bachelor's degree in a scientific or health related field.

·         At least four (4) years’ experience in research and 1 year in clinical research.

·         Post graduate training in clinical research administration or related field.

·         Demonstrated experience with electronic data capture systems.

·         Some experience with data science, machine learning and AI applications is an added advantage.

·         Proficiency in office software, learning management platforms, office management systems and procedures.

·         Strong organizational skills with ability to work with minimal supervision.

·         Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal communication.

·         Ability to independently prioritize work, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

·         Innovative and good managerial skills.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality.
