Embarking within MCB’s Risk Strategic Business Unit (SBU) is an exciting opportunity and establishes a solid foundation for a career in banking.
As part of Risk SBU, the Climate Risk BU is responsible for measuring, monitoring and reporting climate-related financial risks, including physical and transition risks, across the bank.
The Climate Risk Analyst, reporting to the Senior Climate Risk Executive, will support the integration of climate-related financial risks into MCB’s risk management framework, in accordance with prescribed standards and the guidelines from the Bank of Mauritius (BoM) on the subject.

Job vacancy: Climate Risk Analyst
In this role you will:
• Collect, validate, and manage climate-related risk data across the bank, ensuring high-quality, accurate data for analysis and reporting;
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative assessments of climate-related risks (physical and transition) at portfolio-level;
• Prepare regular internal reports on climate-related risk exposures and trends;
• Contribute to internal and external climate-related disclosures, including those required by the Bank of Mauritius;
• Stay informed on regulatory developments, emerging risks, and climate-related data sources;
• Support the Senior Climate Risk Executive in:
o Developing a climate-related risk policy and contributing to the risk management framework and relevant policies, including but not limited to the Environmental and Social Risk Management Policy;
o Devising and maintaining the relevant climate-related risk assessment methodology, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders;
o Devising a climate-related risk appetite framework consistent with the Bank’s business strategy;
o Designing and executing stress tests to assess climate-related risks under different regulatory and internal scenarios.
• Provide ad hoc support to the Senior Climate Risk Executive or the Head of Financial Risk across various tasks, including but not limited to analysis, research and coordination of climate-related risk initiatives.
To succeed, you will be required to demonstrate the following competencies:

• Learns through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder;
• Adapts approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
We are looking for candidates who have at least:
• A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering or a related field;
• At least 1 year of working experience in Risk, Sustainability, or ESG role preferably within banking or financial services.
And
• High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
• Working knowledge of data analysis software, including at least one of SAS, R, or Python;
• Familiarity with the use of AI in risk management would be an advantage.
A combination of both qualification & experience will be considered.
