Studio 8, a multi-product, multi-disciplinary Design and Research team in Microsoft China, has an opening for an experienced, motivated, and innovative UX Researcher 2 in our Beijing/Suzhou studio.
At Studio 8 we work on a broad variety of Microsoft products for markets around the world. As a member of the UX research team in the studio, you will influence product strategy, experience design and development with user or customer insights in product development process in the AI era with a focus on MAI products.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong capability of in-dependently working on research projects via partnering with product, design and engineering teams in AI era, from but not limited to define or re-define research questions, planning and agreeing with partner teams on methods applied and data collected, analyzing data, report and readout results and insights, and influence and follow up on action plans from research with product teams. The researcher also needs to empower or enable teams to engage with customers for more insights besides UX research.
Responsibilities
Our UX Research team in Studio 8 works closely with product managers, designers and engineers to ensure product experiences for our end users and customers in the AI era, sometimes also inform product strategies and directions. As a UX researcher 2 in Studio 8, you need to work relatively independently on research projects with product, design and engineering partners. And at the same time, as a key team player with a research background, you also need to strive to influence and empower the team to work with you on customer engagements for customer informed product decisions.
You need to work on research projects in a very agile way, while at the same time, deliver quality research deliverables for product impacts in Microsoft AI:
·Plan research works based on your understanding of the product problems, agree with key stakeholders on the plan including applied methodology, way of data collection, project timelines and key deliverables
·Collect data in English and Mandarin, to meet research goals
·Analyze data including but not limited to qualitative and quantitative data, behavioral, attitude and telemetry data for key results and insights
·Report results and key insights backed with data for team actions or strategies for better product metrics
·Influence and follow up with team on actions based on research results
·Strong collaboration and communications skills with partner teams and research peers
·With a strong growth mindset, willing to take feedback and grow by properly accommodating feedback and input from co-workers
We need people who are passionate about engaging with end users or customers, who can skillfully apply his or her methodology and knowledge on designing valid and reliable research and implement it, and who are also enthusiastic to communicate the key learnings to influence product quality, design, strategy and vision.
Besides conducting UX research works, you will also need to influence and empower the partner teams.
Qualifications
·Master’s degree (or higher) in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field, OR significant industry experience.
·4+ years of industry experience of conducting full loop of qualitative and quantitative research projects on end users, stakeholders from planning, defining research questions, design the methodology, collect and analyze data, report results, and follow up with product and design teams.
·Passionate about human-centered design and customer driven product, platform and technology design and development
·Strong data analysis capability: able to analyze complicated data sets and turn results into insightful learning
·A quick learner: able to pick up research projects on new themes or products quickly.
·With a strong growth mindset in an agile environment: willing to take feedback properly for growth.
·Excellent English speaking and writing skills, comfortable to conduct interviews or focus groups in English
·Collaborative, approachable, and experienced to work together with product managers, data scientists, and designers on research projects
·Experiences on research democratization is a plus
