Tax Manager
Remote-US
Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our in-house direct tax team. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of state compliance, tax reporting, Corptax and technology administration and shareholder support. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge, team leadership experience, and a proactive mindset for process improvement. This position will directly manage two team members and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of tax deliverables across the company. Our most successful employees are service oriented and work well as a team player. This position can be remote but will need to work eastern time zone hours.
Some of the things you will be doing:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and mentor two direct reports: Staff Accountant and Junior Accountant.
- Provide training, feedback, and support to foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Promote knowledge transfer and professional growth within the tax team.
Tax Compliance & Review
- Oversee and detail review the preparation of and project manage the timely filing of federal and state tax returns, including:
- Federal Form 1120S and related state returns
- C-Corp state tax filings
- Lead project management of all tax deliverables and timelines.
- Conduct first-level detail review of all tax returns and K-1s to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with all state tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the calculation of entity level state tax accrual, estimated payments, and extension payments.
- Research SALT items and present calculations to support the proposed position.
Corptax Administration
- Serve as the primary administrator for Corptax, managing system access, configurations, and updates.
- Oversee the integration and maintenance of tax data within the platform.
- Support tax staff in using Corptax efficiently and troubleshoot system issues as needed.
- Partner with IT and external vendors on system enhancements and upgrades.
Shareholder & Entity Support
- Manage the dividend, quarterly distribution, and director fee processes.
- Provide responsive customer service to shareholders, including handling tax notices, stock transfers, and other ad hoc requests.
- Assist in the calculation of state tax accruals, estimated payments, and extension payments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams including Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Fin Ops and the International Tax group on tax-related matters.
- Communicate effectively across departments to ensure alignment on tax strategies and compliance.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation within the tax function.
- Maintain documentation of key tax processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- CPA, MBA or MST preferred
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant tax experience, with prior experience in S-corporation and multi-state taxation
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of provision and book to tax adjustments
- Pass through entity tax compliance experience - required
- Multi-state tax compliance experience - required
- Understanding of and experience in applying different apportionment methodologies – preferred
- Project management experience and skills - required
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing a team
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Power user or advanced understanding of Corptax tax compliance software
- Experience with Alteryx and Power Pivot - preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail Oriented
- Ability to travel to DE Headquarters up to 4 times per year
- Ability to travel to annual Corptax conference as needed
