A Brief Overview
The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for completing the daily workflow as a seasoned expert in the Payroll Tax department providing timely and accurate support of multi-state payroll tax related activities. 

What you will do

  • Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge base of Payroll and Payroll Tax policies and procedures.
  • Assists with providing guidance and helps define solutions on tax products and processes.
  • Performs escalated case research and follow up.
  • Resolves mid–high complexity, tasks related to different areas in Payroll Tax.
  • Communicates internally with colleagues and externally via client cases, email, chat and/or telephone​. Maintains a high level of service delivery.
  • May provide training and mentoring on documented processes to facilitate colleague development.
  • Participates in internal department projects as needed and serves as a workflow Subject Matter Expert.
  • Prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines
  • For Compliance Payroll Tax Analyst Only - liaise with taxing authorities to verify completion of transactions. Perform audits of internal and external documents to ensure required documentation. Manage and update information across various tax systems.
  • For Operations Payroll Tax Analyst Only - handles detailed wage and tax transactions.
  • For Onboarding/Offboarding Payroll Tax Analyst Only - manages documentation and demographic information during onboarding & offboarding. Educates customers on FICA, FUTA, SUTA/SAWB, and SUTA restart processes. Ensures customer compliance with tax regulations and FUTA exemptions. Conducts workflow audits. Manages year-end and year-start tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred 
  • General education, vocational training and/or on-the-job training required 

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 4+ years payroll tax experience required 

Skills and Abilities

  • Developing advanced skills in tax agency correspondence 
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, quality work product 
  • Demonstrates proactive problem-solving and critical thinking skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Indepth understanding of US payroll tax including federal, state, and local laws and regulations 
  • Ability to handle detailed wage and tax transactions, prioritize tasks and projects to meet deadlines and improve efficiency 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment 
  • High commitment to professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace 
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment, while leading multiple priorities 
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality 
  • Experience with web-based payroll software 
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ability to follow established procedures in a timely manner 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

The preferred location for this role is Atlanta, GA, and the salary range for this location is $56,493.00 to $96,096.00. All qualified external applicants will be considered for an in-office role, based in Atlanta.  All qualified internal candidates are encouraged to apply and consider relocation to Atlanta and may be considered for remote hire at the company’s discretion. The candidate’s final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience. 

A candidate’s compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
