Description
The Director of Development oversees all aspects of donor engagement, corporate and foundation relations, event planning, marketing communications, and administrative operations in support of the organization’s mission. This position manages a diverse portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors through strategic prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship efforts. The Director of Development supports the organization's visibility and outreach by supporting marketing content across digital platforms, direct mail, and print collateral, ensuring all messaging is donor-centered and aligned with organizational branding.
Functions and Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:
- Administrative duties including but not limited to: Answer phone, process mail, file, copy, scan, compose and prepare correspondence, calendar management, schedule appointments, compile documents for meetings and trainings, data entry, create and run reports, utilize all office equipment, make purchases, trouble shoot and problem solve, and all other related administrative duties as assigned.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information; maintain confidentiality
- Complete all administrative duties with accuracy and by the deadline
Corporate and Community Engagement:
- Promote and assist with fundraising events
- Develop, manage, and steward corporate partnerships, maintaining responsibility for all applicable aspects of partnerships
- Monitor funding opportunities from corporate partners. When received, track, assess, and report, including coordinating gift implementation with Operations, to ensure successful grant fulfillment
- Provide regular analysis, identify potential shortfalls, and develop and implement contingency plans and course corrections, as needed, to achieve budgeted goals
Individual Prospect Research and Engagement:
- Accountable for prospect identification, research, and data analysis
- Build and manage a portfolio of individual donors
- Accountable for providing an excellent donor experience
Foundation Prospect Research, Proposal Writing, and Development:
- Develop and oversee foundation prospecting, including identifying and researching potential funding sources by matching BGCGTC’s goals and priorities with grant opportunities
- Accountable for implementing the strategy and plan to secure funds
- Regularly update the donor database system with foundation information and actions, including uploading grant award letters and communication
Event Logistic Management:
- Support Event from conception to execution with a focus on creating an engaging environment for staff, volunteers, and attendees that promotes BGCGTC in a way that achieves the highest level of stewardship, engagement, and, when relevant, revenue
- Help to maintain records for the successful completion of fundraising events, programs, and activities. Post-event, host debrief meetings, recognize key individuals and constituents involved in the event, and reconcile all revenue and expenses
- Build and manage a portfolio of event donors
Marketing:
- Support direct mail strategy
- Utilize the website with consistent, donor-centered messaging
- Support the social media strategy, including generating, editing, publishing, and sharing engaging content in conjunction with the overall annual Advancement strategies and campaigns
- Develop written and designed content for printed marketing collateral with consistent, donor-centered messaging
Requirements
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience
- Fundraising or sales experience
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
- Ability to work regular business hours; including some evenings, nights and weekends
- Ability to persuade or influence others effectively
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and with a team

- Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
- Must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with donor database
- Knowledge of local community
- Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage.
Pay and Benefits:
- Minimum starting pay: $65,000 - $75,000 yearly
- Benefits: Eligible for health, vision and dental coverage; 401(K) plan and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; and short and long-term disability. Paid Time off (PTO) and company paid holidays.
