Description
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall operations of the Pre-Operative Department. Responsible for planning of staffing needs, preparing the staff schedule, preparation of bi-weekly time cards, and monitoring of supplies and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform job duties accurately and efficiently according to established policies.
- Assure there is an overall effective management system.
- Assist with development and implementation of ASC goals.
- Serve as a resource person for updating or improving patient care practices.
- Participate in the QA/QI Program, assisting in reviewing and reporting data.
- Assure a safe, progressive clinical environment is provided for the patients.
- Work closely with the Director of ASC regarding supplies, equipment, concerns, and needs.
- Assist the Director of ASC in the budget planning for the Pre-operative department.
- Assist with developing and implementation of appropriate policies, procedures, standards of care, and standards of practice.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing and selection of qualified personnel.
- Provide counseling and guidance of personnel, in order to maintain an effective team.
- Maintain control of overtime, productivity levels, and quality service by monitoring schedules, time cards and daily activities of Pre-op staff.
- Conduct evaluations on Pre-op department personnel in conjunction with the Director of ASC.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Must be licensed by the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse (RN) and maintain licensure prior to hire and/or transfer and throughout employment in an RN position.
- Must hold and maintain Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification throughout employment in this position.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory/administrative position, preferably in a Pre-operative setting.

- Displays computer proficiency (i.e. PC windows and MS Office environment) and ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Proficient in use of English language both in written and verbal communication.
- Must be able to communicate with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds.
- Displays ability of giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

- Standing/Walking: Constantly; activity exists up to 90% of the time

- Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods.
- Ability to perform constant repetitive hands and finger motions.
- Ability to work in various positions (standing, sitting, bending, and walking) for extended periods of time.
