IGS is currently pipelining for a remote Risk Management Analyst to support our work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Candidates will be contacted as opportunities for further consideration becomes available.
Assignment of Work and Travel:
This is a remote access assignment. The Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.
Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Analyze and evaluate risk management data to identify potential threats to cost, schedule, performance, data integrity, and compliance within IT projects supporting veteran healthcare systems.
- Assess and report on risks related to health data interoperability initiatives and the adoption of national standards (e.g. TEFCA, FHIR) by Community of Practice members.
- Assess risks associated with the implementation, integration, and maintenance of electronic health records (EHR), patient data exchange platforms, telehealth technologies, and clinical decision support systems used across VA facilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including clinicians, IT professionals, cybersecurity personnel, and program managers to gather, verify, and interpret risk-related data across projects and initiatives.
- Apply federal risk management frameworks such as NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), FISMA, and HIPAA/HITECH to ensure compliance and protect veterans' protected health information (PHI).
- Maintain and monitor risk registers and mitigation plans, ensuring timely updates and alignment with enterprise risk management (ERM) practices across the VA health system.
- Develop and deliver detailed risk reports, executive briefings, and visual dashboards that communicate risk posture and mitigation progress to leadership, stakeholders, and oversight bodies.
- Identify and track risk indicators tied to system performance, clinical workflows, vendor deliverables, and regulatory requirements unique to veteran healthcare operations.
- Support the development of contingency strategies and proactive risk mitigation approaches to ensure continuity of care and system availability for veteran populations.
- Participate in project reviews, internal audits, risk working groups, and system authorizations to support accreditation (e.g., ATO processes) and compliance milestones.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of risk management procedures, tools, and standards to strengthen governance and mission assurance in veteran healthcare delivery.
- Be willing to support additional project needs as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Health Informatics, Public Health, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience and understanding analyzing and evaluating risk management data to identify potential threats to cost, schedule, performance, data integrity, and compliance within IT projects
- Personnel shall demonstrate proficiency in skills necessary to perform tasks
- Knowledge of Access, Excel spreadsheets, macros, effective written and oral communication, presentation and facilitation skills at an executive level
- Knowledge of SharePoint Online, Office 365, Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI at an expert level as deemed necessary by role
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
- Strong organizational skills

Compensation: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
