About the job and your team
In this role, your overall responsibilities will include a range of tasks
- Implement our sustainability strategy: Support the rollout of Rein’s 2030 sustainability goals, develop and update procedures and initiatives, and promote a strong sustainability culture across teams and projects.
- Lead E&S in Swedish projects: Oversee E&S impact and risk assessments, permitting processes, and stakeholder engagement to ensure regulatory compliance and project alignment with sustainability targets.
- Review and advise on permitting processes: Ensure that our projects adhere to the Swedish permitting processes and comply with Swedish regulations.
- Support M&A activities: Conduct E&S due diligence for acquisitions, ensuring risks are identified and managed in line with Rein’s standards.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Act as a subject matter expert, contributing with E&S expertise across global business units and supporting project development and operations.
You will be joining the European unit of Hydro Rein, a fast moving and pioneering team of currently 15 people. You will report to Head of Project Development Europe – located in Norway – and collaborate closely with Head of Sustainability located in Brazil, colleagues, business partners, and consultants

Your qualifications and skill
- 5+ years' experience integrating E&S considerations into renewable energy or infrastructure projects in Sweden.
- Proven track record in permitting processes and E&S regulations in Sweden.
- Skilled in environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs) and E&S risk assessment and mitigation for solar and onshore wind projects, or similar infrastructure projects.
- Competence in biodiversity and E&S governance.
- Extensive experience working closely with and engaging in dialogue with stakeholders.
- Proficient in GIS/ArcGIS.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, management, forestry, law, biology, or related fields.
- Familiarity with Swedish and EU regulations, directives, and international standards (e.g. IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles) is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Swedish, or any other Scandinavian language.
Additional information
The location of this role is in Sweden – preferably Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Luleå areas, where our current Hydro Rein teams in Sweden are based – alternatively Oslo, Norway.
