Job Title: Financial Accountant

Department: Finance & Accounting

Location: Remote; would prefer the Kansas or Missouri area.

Reports To: Controller

Position Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant with at least 3 years of professional accounting experience to join our finance team. This role supports the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the smooth operation of our accounting processes. The ideal candidate is eager to grow, brings a solid foundation in accounting, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements.

Financial Reporting

• Support the preparation of internal financial reports and schedules.
• Maintain accurate documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
•  Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and studying account information.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement and provide insights to management for decision-making.

Budgeting

• Assist in the development and maintenance of the organization's budget, ensuring it is accurate, up-to-date, and reflects the organization's needs.
• Working closely with departments and managers to gather input, define budget proposals, and align them with organizational strategy.
• Cash & Expense Management
• Monitor daily cash transactions and assist with cash flow tracking.
• Review and process employee expense reports.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure adherence to internal accounting policies.
• Assist in maintaining internal controls and supporting audit processes.

Systems & Tools

• Use accounting software and ERP systems for data entry and reporting.
• Develop and maintain Excel-based financial models and reports.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with the Controller and other finance team members.
• Collaborate with departments such as HR and Operations to resolve financial discrepancies.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
•  Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
•  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (ERP experience preferred).
• Experience using PowerBI to develop reporting and dashboards, particularly to handle exception-based reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or service-based industries.
