We are seeking a Supplier Risk and Governance Manager to safeguard Optus’s interests through proactive and comprehensive supplier risk management. This role plays a critical part in embedding the enterprise risk management framework within Procurement and ensuring that end-to-end supplier risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively starting from onboarding and continuing throughout the supplier lifecycle, particularly for strategic and critical suppliers. The successful candidate will design and implement Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) policies, governance frameworks, and risk controls, ensuring consistent application and monitoring across all supplier engagements, and comply with Security of Critical Infrastructure (the SOCI act). Acting as a key liaison, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders including Risk, Cybersecurity, Legal, Data, and Privacy teams to ensure governance obligations and mitigation measures are embedded and maintained


In this role, you will drive supplier risk assessment processes, oversee governance mechanisms for contract compliance, monitor and report on risk metrics, and maintain the Supplier Intelligence Portal with up-to-date data from trusted sources. You will champion a culture of risk awareness, enabling proactive identification and mitigation of supplier-related risks before they affect operations. This position offers the opportunity to influence strategic procurement decisions, strengthen compliance and resilience, and contribute to Optus’s ability to operate securely and effectively in a fast-changing business environment


What You’ll Do

  • Create, review, and enhance supplier risk management and governance frameworks, industry best practices and driving process efficiency.
  • Conduct due diligence, ongoing risk assessments, and use analytical tools to evaluate suppliers across operational, financial, regulatory, and ESG factors.
  • Establish KPIs, SLAs, and governance frameworks to oversee supplier performance, conduct audits, and maintain risk registers.
  • Oversee supplier adherence to local, national, and international laws and industry standards, updating policies in line with evolving regulations.
  • Act as a key contact for supplier risk issues, foster collaborative relationships, address incidents, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Produce reports and dashboards for leadership, implement risk management systems, and leverage digital tools for real-time monitoring and analytics

 

What We’re Looking For

  • 8-10 years experience in supplier risk management, procurement, and governance, with strong compliance, stakeholder, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP S4HANA, iValua, and related procurement and supplier risk management tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with flexibility, attention to detail, and a results-oriented, team-focused approach.
  • Experience in developing tiered supplier intelligence using networks and analytical tools.
  • Hold a Business Management or equivalent degree complemented by formal procurement qualifications
