Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer

SENIOR ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION ENGINEER 

As a member of our Technical Services Group, an Electrical Distribution Engineer will develop electrical circuits and system layouts for electric power distribution. They design prototypes, troubleshoot potential issues, make changes to fix any issues, and create specifications and other details for these systems.

This position will require travel to customer sites as needed. Candidates must be comfortable navigating construction job sites with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in all weather conditions. 

Primary Functions

• Lead field surveys to collect data for design purposes.
• Prepare and review advanced electrical distribution designs
• Oversee and approve drawings, including overall site plans, electrical single lines, and detailed schematics.
• Interpret and ensure adherence to the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and other applicable codes, and provide guidance to project teams.
• Serve as Primary Technical Point of Contact for Customer site visits and develop long-term professional relationships.
• Lead project meeting strategies, agendas, minutes,
• Determine and approve customer charges based on engineering analysis, applicable codes, and tariffs
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to engineers, designers, and technicians.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resource allocation for multiple simultaneous projects.
• Perform project management tasks, including scheduling and budgeting.
• Assist in developing proposals and scopes of work with various clients.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering is required; Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in electrical distribution design, construction, or maintenance, with demonstrated project leadership
• Advanced AutoCAD or similar CAD program experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Must hold a Valid Driver License

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook; SAP preferred.

Compensation

The minimum and maximum annual salary that O’Connell Electric Company believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is $110,000-$135,000 per year.
