Overall Objective of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to design, implement, sustain Android extensions of our existing Windows-based Retail Backoffice and Head Office solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our current development team to ensure seamless integration and consistent user experience across platforms. This role offers the opportunity to extend a proven enterprise solution to a new platform, impacting retail operations on a scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Android extensions of our Retail Backoffice and Head Office solutions, ensuring alignment with the core features and data governance of the main applications.
- Collaborate with backend and Windows application teams to integrate Android app with existing web services and APIs.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms in accordance with the current solution’s standards.
- Ensure robust data synchronization and offline capabilities as required by business needs.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with unit tests.
- Participate in process documentation, analysis, and regular code reviews.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance for a wide range of Android devices.
- Stay updated on the latest Android development trends and best practices.
Requirements
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Android application development.
- Strong understanding of OOP principles.
- Proficient in Kotlin for Android development.
- Experience integrating Android apps with RESTful web services and .NET-based backends.
- Familiarity with secure data storage, user authentication, and data governance on mobile platforms.
- Knowledge of UI/UX best practices for Android, including responsive layouts.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Unit testing experience for Android applications.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
Nice to Have:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proficient in Java for Android development.
- Experience with cross-platform frameworks (e.g., Flutter, React Native).
- Familiarity with Windows desktop application concepts (VC++, C#, .NET) to facilitate feature parity and integration.
- Experience with process documentation and business analysis.
- Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
