Quality Specialist - Systems
12-month fixed term contract
The Role
Bega Group is seeking a proactive Quality Specialist to join our team at the Chelsea Heights site in Melbourne’s south-east. This site produces over 100 million litres annually across more than 44 milk and milk-based beverages, and cream products—operating 24/6 to deliver high-quality products to our customers.
In this role, you’ll be central to achieving our sites targets by supporting all site teams in maintaining and improving Quality, Food Safety, and Environmental systems. You’ll lead the development and implementation of HACCP plans, coordinate GMP and internal audits, and ensure compliance with Bega Group standards and regulatory requirements.
As the site’s escalation point for food safety and quality incidents, you’ll manage investigations and drive continuous improvement through Bega Group projects. You’ll also champion consumer complaint management, oversee mock recall programs, and report key Quality & Environmental indicators in site tier meetings.
Additionally, you’ll support training delivery across teams and help build technical capability by identifying learning opportunities and assisting with development initiatives.
Responsibilities
Manage development, implementation, and compliance of HACCP plans and site Quality, Food Safety, and Environmental systems.
Coordinate GMP/internal audits, maintain document control via Intelex, and ensure policies meet Bega Group standards
Sponsor and lead site improvement projects in Quality, Cost, and Efficiency using BEX principles
Support and deliver Food Safety, Quality, and Environmental training; assist in developing technical team capabilities
Champion consumer complaints, manage mock recalls, and report Quality & Environmental indicators in site tier meeting
About you
Tertiary qualification in Food Science or related field
Experience in similar role within a food manufacturing environment
Sound knowledge in Food Safety and Quality requirements
Ideally experience with GFSI standards, including FSSC 22000, BRC, etc
Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
