About the role: We are seeking a Lead Corporate Finance Specialist to support our local and regional operations through the execution of core accounting functions, financial analysis, and statutory reporting primarily for our Canadian offices.
This role is critical to ensure accurate financial records, meaningful insights through reporting, and compliance with local Canadian tax and accounting standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with global and local finance teams, tax advisors, and internal business units to oversee monthly closing activities, manage reconciliations, and produce timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
This position will be based on a hybrid work arrangement - 1-day a week onsite in our San Jose, Costa Rica office.
As a Lead Corporate Finance Specialist, you will oversee:
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Lead the preparation and posting of journal entries for tax payments, payroll clearing, benefit accruals, depreciation, and other recurring or ad hoc entries.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including depreciation for multiple books (GAAP, Tax, Local, and Cash), and perform related reconciliations.
- Manage intercompany and bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and currencies.
- Coordinate and monitor invoice cancellations and ensure proper documentation for adjustments in statutory books.
- Maintain accurate VAT and income tax registers to support accruals and statutory tax filings.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of general ledger balances through account reconciliations and variance analysis.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis to support local and regional leadership.
- Perform variance and trend analysis on revenue, expenses, and key balance sheet accounts.
- Validate monthly income tax prepayments and support the calculation of corporate tax estimates.
- Provide insights and data to support business decisions and compliance with internal reporting standards.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve accuracy and efficiency using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and automation platforms.
- Ensure all financial activities comply with internal policies, external audit standards, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with internal audit and tax teams during audits or inspections.
- Maintain detailed process documentation and contribute to the development of internal control procedures.

- Bachelor’s degree required, within Finance and/or Accounting
- 6 years of accounting and finance experience in multinational companies
- Strong knowledge and experience in accounting, financial analysis and controls
- Candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish including strong writing skills
- Strong technology skills including ERP systems, eBilling and tax portals and advanced Excel, Power Pivot and Power BI skills
- Ability to multi-task, handle multiple deliverables and/or projects at a time and meet deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and ownership of assigned work
- Ability to interact in a collaborative manner with legal and administrative personnel in domestic and foreign offices
