Position Summary: We’re hiring for Senior Infrastructure Developers with DevOps Expertise to join our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team in Bangalore. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of the systems that power athenahealth’s cloud-based solutions. We manage thousands of servers, petabytes of data, and handle thousands of web requests per second—all while supporting rapid growth. Our mission is to build and maintain the infrastructure behind an operating system for medical offices, helping doctors focus on patient care by removing administrative complexity.
 

The Team: We’re a group of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) passionate about automation, reliability, and scalability. We work in agile teams, support both private and public cloud environments, and make data-driven decisions to meet business needs. Our focus is on eliminating manual work through automation so we can drive innovation and improve system performance.
 

Typical Qualifications: 

  • 5 – 8 years building and operating highly available cloud systems and services. 
  • Deep AWS expertise: core services across Compute (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda), Networking (VPC, ALB/NLB), Storage (S3), Databases (RDS), IaC toolchains, and IAM. 
  • Terraform mastery: modules, state management, remote backends, workspaces, lock/state recovery, dependency graphs, for_each/count, dynamic blocks, and locals. 
  • Module engineering: input/output contracts, semantic versioning, changelogs, examples, READMEs, and consumer guidance. 
  • Testing IaC: Terratest (Go) or equivalent, plan validation, contract tests, mock data, and integration tests. 
  • Secure-by-default: IAM least-privilege, KMS, secrets management, tagging policies, encryption, and compliance controls. 
  • CI/CD & SCM: GitHub/Bitbucket, PR workflows, GitHub Actions/Jenkins/CodeBuild, artifact registries, release automation. 
  • Observability: metrics/logs/traces and alerting with Prometheus/Alertmanager/Grafana/CloudWatch for infra components. 
  • Scripting proficiency: one or more of Python, Shell, or Go for tooling and automation. 
     

Nice to Have 

  • Configuration management: Puppet/Ansible exposure for legacy or hybrid scenarios. 
  • Serverless and containers depth: EKS/ECS patterns, Fargate, advanced Lambda practices. 
  • Content delivery: CloudFront, ALB/NLB, Route 53, WAF. 
  • Data/streaming: Kinesis/Kinesis Firehose, MSK, SQS/SNS module design and operations. 
  • Policy-as-Code: Orca, OPA/Conftest, Terraform Cloud/Enterprise policies, Checkov.
  • AIOps/ML for ops: anomaly detection, event correlation applied to infra telemetry. 
  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer, HashiCorp Terraform Associate. 
     

Tooling We Use 

  • IaC: Terraform, Terratest, Orca PAC. 
  • Hashicorp tools: Terraform Enterprises, Vault and Consul. 
  • AWS: CloudFormation interop, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, KMS. 
  • Obs: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, CloudWatch. 


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Design reusable Terraform modules for AWS across multiple accounts and regions
  • Build environment-aware deployments (dev/preprod/prod) using workspaces and DRY patterns
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Operate and secure AWS infrastructure for high availability and cost efficiency
  • Implement observability features: metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerts
  • Promote DevOps and SRE best practices across the team
  • Mentor peers on module design, testing, and documentation
