Senior Applications Engineer

The Ultra-Precision Signal Chain Team (UPT) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Lead to join our Applications Team in Limerick, Ireland. In this role, you will support precision signal chains that incorporate industry-leading converter, reference, and amplifier technologies. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with top-tier engineers across the Precision Signal Chain group, contribute to cutting-edge research, and provide expert technical support to customers developing innovative solutions in instrumentation, industrial automation, automotive, healthcare, and communications industries.

A successful candidate will be capable of architecting complete signal chain solutions that address complex customer challenges. These solutions – spanning form sensor interface to software – may take the form of reference designs, evaluation platforms or product definitions as new opportunities are uncovered.

The initial focus of this Application Engineer will be to assess and prioritize signal solutions and generate high-quality collateral that clearly demonstrates how to achieve high performance analog solutions using exiting components.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting new products investigations, defining specifications, and researching advanced technologies and tools for development.
  • Architecting customer demonstration systems to help launch a new family of products backed up with measurements, optimization work and testing.
  • Conducting technical training for field personnel and customers on signal chains or application specific topics.
  • Guiding customers through system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Developing, defining and refining design simulation models, software drivers and tools.
  • Driving the development of ultra-precise converter, reference and amplifier products backed up with high-quality application notes, technical articles and datasheets.
  • Serving as the customer advocate within multidisciplinary teams, facilitating clear and effective communication between key stakeholders and customers.
  • Mentoring junior applications engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working in the semiconductor industry.
  • A strong background in analog, linear and mixed-signal circuit fundamentals, with analysis and troubleshooting experience.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, building and testing converter circuits.
  • Familiarity with electronic measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, multi-meters.
  • PCB design experience and exposure to PCB design tools.
  • Proficiency with engineering analysis tools is beneficial such as Python, SPICE, LabVIEW and MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering impactful technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with customers.
  • Experience in Software, Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence Tool Development.
  • Knowledge of firmware, DSP or FPGA programming.
  • Experience with SAR Analog to Digital Converters.
  • Experience with Operational Amplifiers.
  • Familiarity with analog IC design.
  • Hands-on lab experience in schematic design, PCB layout, simulation, prototyping and evaluation of precision converter and amplifier circuits.

Business Travel:

Business travel required about 10% on average. Advanced notice will be given whenever possible, noting that on rare occasions last-minute travel may be necessary.
