Global Treasury India, Senior Vice President
Role Summary:
Directly lead State Street’s Global Treasury teams in India and Global Functional Ownership of Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) and Balance Sheet Insight Centre (BSIC).
Also ensuring seamless execution of Treasury’s strategic objectives across core functions and managing staff across Capital Management, Balance Sheet Management, Asset Liability Management, Liquidity Management, Chief Investment Office, and Recovery and Resolution Planning
Shape and contribute to Global Treasury strategy, collaborating with senior leadership across geographies to align with enterprise-wide goals and regulatory expectations.
Foster a culture of risk excellence, embedding strong governance, compliance, and operational resilience across all Treasury functions.
Build and lead a high-performing team, to maximize efficiency, innovation, and impact.
Champion global collaboration, ensuring India’s Treasury teams are tightly integrated with counterparts in North America, EMEA, and APAC, and contribute meaningfully to enterprise-wide transformation efforts.
Main Responsibilities:
Partner with the Global Treasurer and each Treasury functional lead to:
Take full ownership of coordinating and overseeing critical Treasury and banking processes, ensuring seamless execution across Deposit reporting and analysis, Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), Net Interest Income (NII) allocation, Quarterly Stress Testing and CCAR, Recovery and Resolution capabilities testing.
Lead these functions to meet regulatory and operational standards and also deliver strategic insights that shape global Treasury decisions.
Provide strategic direction to the Balance Sheet Insight Center, ensuring its outputs drive enterprise-wide understanding and action.
Act as a key liaison between India-based Treasury teams and global leadership. Proactively engage with the Global Treasurer and functional leads to influence decision-making, align regional execution with global priorities, and advocate for India’s strategic contributions.
Directly manage a high-performing team of ~70 professionals across Treasury functions, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Additional Responsibilities include:
Strategic & Global Leadership
Global Treasury Partnership: Collaborate with the Global Treasurer and Treasury functional leads to align India’s execution with global strategy. Influence enterprise-wide decisions through data-driven insights and thought leadership.
Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with FP&A, BU Finance, IT, and Investment Services to ensure seamless coordination across Treasury functions and consistent understanding of financial drivers.
Global Decision-Making: Represent in global forums, contributing to strategic planning, regulatory interpretation, and capital optimization efforts across jurisdictions.
Enterprise Transformation: Lead and support global initiatives such as FTP transformation and CCAR enhancement.
Functional Oversight & Execution
Balance Sheet Insight Center: Lead this strategic hub, owning all deliverables including deposit reporting, FTP execution, and analytical commentary.
Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP): Drive production and transformation of FTP metrics. Ensure NII allocation aligns with approved methodologies and business understanding.
Stress Testing & CCAR: Oversee execution and governance of CCAR and quarterly stress testing. Lead PMO functions, gap assessments, and documentation enhancements.
Data Governance: Present updates on data metrics and quality to senior management. Create and manage processes to track and report data quality KPIs.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
Team Management: Lead a team of ~70 professionals across Treasury functions. Guide and mentor global and remote teams, fostering collaboration and excellence.
India Leadership: Serve as a key member of the India leadership team, supporting the India CEO and contributing to regional strategy and execution.
Talent Development: Ensure staff have clear roles, responsibilities, and development plans. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
Oversight & Governance: Establish systems of control, delegated authority, and escalation procedures. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Risk Excellence & Culture
Risk Governance: Embed a culture of risk excellence across Treasury operations. Encourage open dialogue, effective challenge, and proactive issue resolution.
Code of Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Model ethical behavior and ensure alignment with State Street’s values.
Escalation Framework: Ensure timely and appropriate escalation of issues. Monitor management information and challenge assumptions where necessary.
Strategic Communication & Influence
Executive Presentations: Prepare strategic narratives, commentary, and presentation materials for global committees, staff meetings, and leadership forums.
Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure transparent and consistent communication across teams.
Special Projects: Lead initiatives that enhance transparency, improve financial insights, and support strategic decision-making. Navigate roadblocks and motivate teams to achieve outcomes.
Managerial
Maintain a detailed understanding of:
a. The scope of the role’s managerial responsibilities
b. The competence of the staff reporting to you
Ensure that Treasury staff have a clear understanding of their reporting lines, authority levels, scope of responsibilities (including those delegated to them and those they delegate), objectives, training and competency requirements plus progress is reviewed regularly in line with company policy and are regulatory registered where appropriate for their role
Develop effective working relationships and communications with staff and ensure that staff are motivated, developed and supported
Establish and monitor systems of control, delegated authority and escalation procedures so that the business complies with internal policies and external regulations and can be managed effectively
Adhere to the delegation and oversight (management information and escalation) framework in the performance of daily tasks. This includes taking proactive action to ensure there is adequate production of management information that is fit for purpose, and issues are raised as appropriate
Establish and monitor an effective oversight framework to ensure that issues are appropriately identified, escalated and resolved. This includes: a) ensuring that appropriate management information is received, considered and challenged as appropriate at intervals proportionate to the risks; and b) that staff members have clear understanding of the escalation path/principles
Establish and nurture a culture of ‘Risk Excellence’ within the team, encourage an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion
Ensure that you make reasonable decisions by exercising reasonable care when considering information available to you. This includes taking proactive action to ensure that the information you have is suitable and adequate
Establish and nurture a culture of individual ownership of tasks to embed a clear individual sense of accountability into staff members’ behavior in performing their roles
Ensure that the highest level of the Code of Conduct is displayed in your own and staff behavior
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
BS/BA (Finance/Accounting preferred)
At least 15 years of experience in financial services; prior experience in a Treasury leadership function is strongly preferred
Skills/Knowledge
Excellent written, verbal communication and time management skills
Ability to effectively manage senior stakeholders, including both internal management and regulators
Proven ability to manage through complex and cross-functional projects, with a strength in influencing others
Highly analytical individual who is able to fully understand and own data quality end-to-end
Experience at other institutions, and who is able to bring industry best practices to the role
Ability to multi-task, manage priorities, work independently while maintaining attention to detail and meet deadlines in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment, as well as overseeing and supporting multiple direct reports in doing same
Experience with role aligned data, systems, and technology
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing demands
Experience managing teams, in different regions and time zones
