Valdez Local Office Engineer

Responsibilities
1. Working knowledge of project plans, specifications, and subcontracts. Work directly with project owner, subcontractors, and suppliers.
2. Daily requirements are purchase orders preparation and monitoring, regular correspondence with Owner’s onsite representative, subcontractors and suppliers, shop drawings and other submittals, and all other project related documents.
3. Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Management and oversight of workplace environmental operations.
4. Help the project manager to ensure timely project completion through project scheduling, expediting of material deliveries, management of materials and the documentation of submittals/approvals.
5. Project quantity tracking
6. Scheduling of the project according to specification requirements for Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules.
7. Implement and monitor a traffic control program for the project site.
8. Record keeping and cost coding of employee hours and project budget.
9. Job site safety management to include working directly with the Company Safety Manager to comply with OSHA, MSHA and FMCSR.
Minimum Requirements
1. Experience in heavy civil construction preferred or enrollment in a construction management program or civil engineering.
2. Competent user of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
3. Familiarity and experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
4. Familiarity and experience with HCSS HeavyJob a plus.
5. Traffic Control Supervisor or Traffic Control Technician certification a plus
6. Alaska Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (AK-CESCL).
7. Excellent communication skills -- written and oral.
8. Organized, dependable, proactive and punctual.
9. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of personality types.
10. Flexible and willing to travel to various job sites, mostly in remote Alaska, with potential for other locations.
