The Postdoctoral Scholar performs molecular and cell biological research to define the mechanisms that regulate the cell division of chlamydia trachomatis.
Performs advanced imaging, biochemical, and genetic studies to define how the site of polarized budding is defined in coccoid chlamydia cell. Directs the research technician who will contribute to the proposed studies. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Doctoral Degree in Bacteriology or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or advanced imaging techniques in a bacterial system. Knowledge of bacterial growth and cell division. Ability to clone and express tagged cell division proteins. Skill in various aspects of imaging of fluorescently labeled proteins including epifluorescence, confocal, and super-resolution imaging techniques. Ability to direct the research of a research technician and problem solve.
