PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Assists in managing the Spa and Health Club operations to ensure profitability, quality standards, and guest satisfaction.  Be fully versed on the Chuan and Langham Brand Standards, Forbes Service Standards and Chuan/TCM concept & philosophy. Ensure spa colleagues are adhering to hotel policies, standards, procedures and regulations.  Maintain outstanding relationships with all areas and leaders in the hotel. Train and coach on a continual basis to ensure standards are maintained. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the smooth, efficient, and professional operation of Spa Concierge Desk. 
  • Lead and motivates all Spa Concierge, Therapists and Attendants.
  • Supervise to ensure all colleagues are fully versed in the Chuan Spa and Langham Hospitality Group company philosophy, Brand Standards and Forbes service standards. Ensure all concierge, therapists and attendants are trained with appropriate follow-up processes in place. 
  • Implement daily, weekly, monthly goal targets for Spa Concierge
  • Train and develop Spa Concierge, Therapists and Attendants to the highest possible extent.  Ensure daily training is provided on Forbes, Chuan and Langham standards. 
  • Lead by example: provide a high-quality service environment and promotes engaging hospitality towards all guests
  • Is visible in the guest areas during high traffic times and to assist the Spa Concierge and Attendants to ensure smooth operations.  Provides coverage at desk as needed.
  • Ensure Spa Concierge, Therapist and Attendant schedules are submitted to the Director in accordance with timeline and budget.  Schedule breaks to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Work closely with the Director to ensure promotional offers are implemented and communicated to staff.
  • Daily review of spa appointments, wait lists, cancellations, no shows.  Balance the books to ensure revenue opportunities are not missed.
  • Manage the cleanliness of the Spa and Health Club, communicating any defects to the Director in a prompt and timely manner.
  • Take ownership of any guest complaint or comment received or informed of.  Respond and resolve in accordance with the hotel policy in a positive and timely manner. 
  • Manage monthly inventory of all retail items, submit retail orders in system, receive and stock retail items, ensure ordering is within budget and maximize revenue opportunities to achieve retail goals.
  • Initiate monthly meetings in department. Attend staff meetings, operations meetings, hotel show time, managers meetings. 
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to Director as assigned.
  • Ensure all spa colleagues are well groomed in accordance with the hotel and spa standards
  • Maintain client and company confidentiality, ensuring all business dealings or personal details are not discussed with outside parties.
  • Be fully aware of Hotel Health and Safety policy and Fire Procedures
  • At all times, strive to represent Chuan Spa, The Langham, Chicago, and LHG in the most professional and courteous manner.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Considerable knowledge of computer systems, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential. Shiji, Book4Time, Slack, and other programs as needed.
  • Knowledge of Spa / Beauty Industry.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with guests and team members.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to coach and develop subordinates to encourage their growth in the Spa and Hotel.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Prompt and systematic in decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Four year college degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Previous experience as a Spa Manager in an upscale or luxury Spa operation.

At least 3 year’s Spa experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role. 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred. 

Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.

SALARY RANGE: 

$59,988.00 - $74,985.00
