Shift: Full TimePosition Overview:Under limited supervision, the Senior Infection Preventionist - Epidemiology will focus on hospital epidemiology and conducts targeted infection surveillance activities, including investigating and responding to outbreaks among patients and/or staff. This role involves recommending and educating on appropriate infection control measures, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, and serving as a resource for colleagues with less experience. This role involves monitoring infection trends, educating staff, and collaborating with public health and regulatory bodies to uphold organizational safety and compliance. The IP Senior plays a critical role in maintaining a safe environment and preventing infections within the healthcare setting.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct targeted infection surveillance activities, including outbreak investigations and responses.
Analyze the epidemiological patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions within patient and personnel populations, with an emphasis on infection control.
Recommend and teach preventative measures to control infection spread.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to infection control.
Collaborate with regulatory and accrediting agencies to maintain compliance.
Monitor infection data and trends, analyzing performance to inform improvement strategies.
Educate staff on infection prevention practices and organizational policies.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous infection control improvement.
- Education:
- Associate’s Degree or higher.
- Bachelor's Degree in Epidemiology or related field preferred.
- Certifications:
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
- Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in healthcare or a related field.
- Prior infection control experience is required.
- Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of nursing and medical procedures, microbiology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, asepsis, and immunology.
- Deep understanding of local, state, and national regulations and standards related to infection control and their impact on practice.
