Introduction

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

Information about the specific role 

 

The intelligence network is made up of specialist officers and staff who work closely with UK intelligence partners to assess, manage and develop intelligence in order to minimise risk and mitigate threat.

 

Intelligence is the golden thread that runs through all of our work in CT Policing and is vital to ensuring we succeed in our mission to keep people safe from terrorism.

 

The challenges within intelligence can be wide ranging and diverse, from working to support the investigation of a highly sophisticated international plot to identifying vulnerable individuals being radicalised online.

 

This work is complex and needs to be adaptable to an ever-changing threat picture and the requirements of our many internal and external partners.

 

Based at the Merseyside Hub you will provide overall management of the work of the CTPNW Intelligence Management Unit and supporting functions, ensuring the timely and effective receipt, assessment and management of information and intelligence in line with the National Standards of Intelligence Management for Counter Terrorism.

 

You will develop intelligence and investigative strategies to identify and manage risk and threat.

 

You will supervise and manage staff working within CTPNW intelligence.

 

Additionally you will support other managerial functions within the CTPNW as required.

  • UK Nationality 

 

You must be a UK National to work for CTPNW. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearance. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and therefore will not be able to perform their duties.

  • Vetting Requirements

 

This is a designated post under the Force Vetting Strategy and the post will therefore applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) level before taking up the post.

 

For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

  • have completed their probation at the closing date;
  • be confirmed in the rank of the vacancy;
  • not previously been unsuccessful at an assessment or interview for the same post within the last six months; 
  • have no outstanding disciplines (not including complaints).
  • have completed the minimum tenure in your current post (if specialist post)

 

As at 1st April 2022, the HR Secondment Model was implemented for all posts at CTPNW.  This means that all officer and staff posts that are based in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire or Merseyside, are seconded to CTPNW c/o Greater Manchester Police. 

 

If you are a police officer from the any of the 4 forces named above and are successful in your application for a CTPNW police officer post, you will be seconded to CTPNW c/o GMP and you will be located at Cheshire Constabulary. If you are police officer from GMP, you will be seconded to CTPNW you will be located at Cheshire Constabulary. If you are police officer from any other Force you will transfer to Cheshire Constabulary and be seconded to CTPNW c/o GMP. You will be located at Cheshire Constabulary.

 

Please note, your service will transfer over to your new force with you.
