About the Role
As a Supplier Quality Improvement Engineer (SQIE), you will be at the forefront of ensuring the highest quality standards across the direct material supplier network. Your mission will be to work closely with suppliers and internal teams to achieve defect-free performance, lead problem-solving initiatives, and drive continuous improvements in supplier processes and capabilities. This role combines technical expertise, strategic supplier management, and hands-on quality improvement to ensure flawless product performance from concept to launch.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Supplier Quality’s role in supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing & development.
Manage and resolve challenging supplier corrective actions, including fault tree analysis, root cause identification, and implementation of permanent corrective measures.
Ensure suppliers effectively use quality tools tailored to their industry and company requirements, with a strong emphasis on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure all product requirements are met, including compliance with company standards and supplier guidelines.
Oversee supplier quality activities for complex new product introductions and existing products to minimize issues, enhance process capabilities, and meet project timelines.
Lead execution of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and APQP for new or changed products, incorporating Early Supplier Engagement and Zero Defects Mentality.
Monitor and measure supplier quality performance, driving initiatives to meet or exceed established targets.
Champion continuous improvement efforts with suppliers to reduce defects and enhance operational efficiency.
Represent supplier technical processes and capabilities in internal engineering discussions, such as drawing quality and manufacturability reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, or a related technical/scientific discipline.
Experience in supplier quality engineering, manufacturing technology, or related technical fields.
Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Excellent communication skills in English; French is a plus.
Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and other quality tools and processes.
Ability to work effectively across global teams and with suppliers.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
