The Opportunity – Education Supervisor (Causal Worker)
Post location: Gaza Field Office - Deir al Balah - Subject to change depending on SC priorities
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 9 months.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The responsibilities of this position include initiating, supporting, and supervising the facilitation of educational activities and community discussions, implementing learning activities in temporary learning spaces, and providing the necessary technical support to the education team in the learning spaces. Additionally, the role involves ensuring smooth operations, supporting communication tasks, and supervising the implementation of activities related to projects in locations where the Gaza office team operates, particularly in the areas of educational activities carried out by Save the Children. The hired staff must comply with Save the Children International's policies and procedures.
For education activity supervisors, they will be working in the temporary learning spaces(TLSs) in close collaboration with education facilitators, coordinators, and implementing partners of SCI. They will be responsible for guiding and providing supportive supervision in delivering educational activities with children, offering technical support for the conducted learning workshops, and providing necessary support in communicating with parents and conducting sessions with them. The focus will also be on ensuring the existence of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, while adhering to child protection minimum standards. Supervisors will also be responsible for scheduling rotations and leading the facilitators in the temporary learning spaces and the education teams at the sites.

Role Dimensions: oPt CO is a high complexity country, multi-member interest, with an annual budget of around $40+m, and 100+ staff. Currently the program is experiencing a growth in funding and complexity due to the war in Gaza.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
General Responsibilities:
- Represent Save the Children while engaging with target groups.
- Provide orientation to education facilitators in the TLSs regarding roles and responsibilities and offer continuous support and mentoring.
- Collaborate with education facilitators in developing education plans based on children's needs and the established education plans.
- Regularly supervise the facilitators, ensuring that educational activities are implemented appropriately.
- Prepare educational schedules for the sites that align with the nature of each location.
- Assist facilitators in solving problems and challenges they face in the field.
- Compile timely quantitative and qualitative data and reports using designated monitoring tools, including Means of Verification (MoV) and weekly reporting.
- Contribute to the development of a coordinated work plan with other team members.
- Assess and monitor educational needs in the temporary learning spaces
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment within the learning spaces.
- Conduct and update child protection risk assessments and mitigation plan regularly.
- Monitor the appropriateness of the various activities being implemented and adjust plans according to emerging needs.
- Build and develop working relationships with key stakeholders in the reception center.
- Follow up on and supervise databases, ensuring they are kept confidential.
- Monitor success stories that can be achieved in the project and prepare reports on them.
- Coordinate with local community departments to facilitate the work of staff in the field.
- Ready to work to respond to any natural disaster or emergency anywhere in OPT.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in (Arabic Language, Mathematics, English Language, or related fields)
- Experience in working in the field of education with children, with at least two years of experience.
- Experience in leadership/management of team members using a participatory approach will be appreciated.
- Background in social work, education, psychology, or formal and informal education.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Essential:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and handle a complex and varied workload.
- Ability to contribute to a small team, motivate staff, work collaboratively with colleagues, and provide support and advice as needed.
- Willingness and ability to significantly adjust working hours and collaborate with emergency teams coming from outside the sector.
- Cooperate as needed with organization staff, both internationally and within the team environment.
- Understand and commit to Save the Children’s vision and mission.
- Ability to read and understand simple guidelines, short correspondence, and memos.
- Commitment to Save the Children’s values.
- Ability to communicate in Arabic.
- Ability to use minimum level of English.
