Position Summary

We're seeking a proactive Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to ensure that all outsourced materials and components meet Balanced Body's stringent quality standards. This role is critical for the reliability and durability of our Pilates equipment. You'll be the primary quality liaison between our internal teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement) and our global suppliers, driving quality excellence, mitigating risks, and fostering continuous improvement throughout our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Evaluation & Development: Conduct audits and assessments of new and existing suppliers. Collaborate with vendors to enhance processes, conduct PFMEAs, and implement quality improvement plans. Provide technical guidance and training to ensure compliance and elevate supplier capabilities.
Quality Management & Compliance: Develop and monitor Supplier Quality Control Plans. Manage all supplier non-conformances, leading root cause analysis (RCA) using methodologies like 5 Whys and 8D. Ensure timely resolution of issues, verify corrective actions, and oversee PPAP or similar qualification documentation. Ensure supplier adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
Performance Monitoring: Establish and track KPIs for supplier quality. Create performance KPIs and FAIs for vendors, analyze data to identify trends and risks, and disseminate scorecards to critical suppliers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the key quality link between internal departments and external suppliers. Provide quality engineering expertise during New Product Introduction (NPI) phases for sourced components and help define clear quality requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related technical engineering field.
5+ years as a Supplier Quality Engineer within manufacturing.
Proven success in conducting supplier audits and driving measurable improvements.
Strong proficiency in quality methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D, CAPA, PFMEA, Control Plans).
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
Proficient with GD&T, CAD software, statistical analysis tools, and QMS (e.g., ISO 9001).
Strong MS Office Suite skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Collaborative team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with strong initiative.
Travel 10-20% to supplier sites.
