Position Title: Wellness Specialist
Division: Family & Student Support Services/Student Services
Reports To: Director, Mental Health & Wellness

Essential Duties:
- Support and develop a comprehensive wellness program designed to support the healthy physical, social, emotional and mental development of students and employees.
- Train school based CARE team on attendance and school climate systems.
- Develop systemic resources and procedures for school based CARE teams and monitor progress.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive wellness toolkit and resources.
- Train and support staff in the area of adult and student wellness.
- Lead school-based teams to analyze student and employee wellness perceptions and develop related action plans.
- Implement, monitor, and support Second Step and School Connect.
- Develop wellness modules and professional development for schools to include trauma informed practices, positive behavior supports, and social and emotional development.
- Engage school leaders in wellness data analysis protocols to guide school planning.
- Support consistent practices and procedures for the implementation of wellness initiatives and activities.
- Provide school-based coaching to support teachers in implementing best practices to promote wellness, establish supportive learning environments, and develop supportive classroom management practices.
- Collaborate with the instructional team to integrate wellness activities into the curriculum.
- Consult with school administrators to build capacity at school-level to meet the intensive needs of students.
- Consult with school-based Leadership Teams to identify priorities, develop action plans, and monitor progress at identified schools.
- Establish measurable program effectiveness goals and complete ongoing measurement and documentation of program effectiveness.
- Provide coaching to a team of Wellness Facilitators to implement school-based wellness activities, action plans, and professional development.
- Consult with school administrators to build capacity at the school-level to meet the intensive needs of students.
- Work collaboratively with district and school-level staff to design effective processes to monitor student progress.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master's degree, required; Georgia Educator Certification (T or S), required.
- Ability to work well with teachers, school administrative teams, and district office leadership.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
- Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
