Support the Web Services section by fielding and fulfilling all website edit requests for Communications division supported websites.
How you will contribute:
Accessibility Management : Implement web accessibility across VDOT digital assets through the enforcement of ADA and 508 compliance, including document remediation, support and guidance.
Content Management : Ensure VDOT website content is correct and current by adding, editing and archiving website content; formatting and styling content on web pages; and identifying and correcting grammatical errors, typos and broken links.
Disaster/Emergency Support : Provide emergency after hours web support (on rotation) for urgent web matters such as news releases, weather-related content needs, emergency website banners, and other content items. Answer and respond to after-hours calls received.
Manage Change Requests : Receive and review all website change requests received via email and service tickets; implement routine website changes; analyze complex change requests and work with Web Strategy Manager to provide best available options for request; execute complex change requests.
Training: Provide ad hoc internal user training on 508 compliance, document remediation, editing in TerminalFour CMS, and Siteimprove.
Web Services Support : Support the Web Services team and Web Strategy Manager on various website projects including website content migration, website content auditing, website content writing, and website quality assurance testing.

Ability to design and develop Web pages using HTML and CSS and content management systems.
Ability to edit and remediate engineering, legal and social science documents for ADA accessibility.
Ability to implement ADA and Section 508 standards across websites.
Ability to maintain websites and use content management systems.
Ability to organize and synthesize complex issues into clear and concise content.
Ability to positively represent VDOT plans and programs to media, citizens and elected officials.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work well with others, including website content subject matter experts.
Knowledge of communication methods and theory as they relate to public and media relations.
Skill in editing content using AP style guidelines.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include MS Office products and Adobe Creative Suite.
Skill in writing website content for multiple audiences using multiple formats.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
Ability to communicate well and educate others on how to use content management systems.
Ability to correct ADA, WCAG, 508 and web accessibility errors for web content and documents.
Ability to manipulate and format website content using HTML and CSS.
Ability to use Adobe Acrobat DC Pro software for editing and remediating documents for 508 compliance.
Ability to use Adobe inDesign, Photoshop and other Creative Cloud applications for web content editing.
Ability to use Google Analytics and Siteimprove dashboards for tracking user trends, website analytics, content errors, fixing broken links and identifying opportunities for content enhancements.
Ability to use content management systems (CMS) for website content editing.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Skill in using Microsoft applications including Word, Powerpoint, Teams and Outlook.
Skill in website content management and website editing.
Additional Considerations:
A combination of training, experience, or education in Mass Communications, Web Communications, English or related field desired.
Experience in A/B content testing.
Experience using TerminalFour CMS.
Sharepoint website editing experience.
