Job Description
The Enterprise Technology & Software Engineering team connect and build the technology tools that help our group work smarter, faster, and more efficiently.
We achieve this by focusing on the configuration, development and continuous improvement of our Enterprise Technology platforms, our approach is seamless and iterative, prioritising agility and adaptability. By integrating modern engineering approaches and fostering a culture of constant innovation, we ensure that our core building blocks not only support current needs but also scales effortlessly for future growth.
As a DevOps Engineer you’ll ensure smooth running of our applications and platforms by contributing to design, build, and support Ampol’s groups digital assets and customer facing technology. You’ll work closely with the business users and other Digital team members to ensure our solutions are fit for purpose, resilient and reliable.
As a member of the DevOps Team, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with our Software Engineering team to support smooth and efficient CI/CD pipelines
- Build and maintain infrastructure using automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
- Implement and enhance monitoring & alerting
- Support, respond & resolve incidents as needed, including participating in an on-call roster
- Contribute to the design and implementation of resilient and secure systems
- Support cloud-based environments
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and automating manual tasks
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and tools
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in DevOps and cloud engineering
- Contribute to the development of standards and best practices and share these with our Community of Practices (CoP’s)
Qualifications
What you’ll bring to Z
- Understanding of cloud monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (preferably Azure)
- Prior development & scripting experience, preferably .Net/C#, PowerShell, Bash, Python & Typescript/NodeJS.
- Experience in databases – with considerations around scalability, reliability, and security.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including debugging, performance optimisation, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (preferably GitActions & Terraform)
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Willingness to learn, grow, and share knowledge with others

The base salary range for this role $90k - $105k + 10% STI + 5% KS + health insurance and health insurance through Southern Cross.
