The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in UK’s & Ireland’s Building Services sector. Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.

What We Do:
We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.

Team Overview:
The Plant Assets team manages the efficiencies and lifespan of all physical assets within our portfolio. Through proactive maintenance, data-driven decision-making, and optimizing asset utilization we reduce costs and improve productivity and efficiency of all plant assets. Our Effective plant asset management system requires a comprehensive approach that includes inventory management, risk-based maintenance planning, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview:
As a key member of the plant assets team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that machinery and equipment operate at peak performance across various sites. This role involves a mix of preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, working closely with the operations team to minimise downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are complied with in accordance with the company requirements. 
  • Complete mechanical and electrical repairs to state of the art robotic welding cells , overhead travel cranes equipment and fabrication equipment. 
  • Provide technical support for the plant facilities and services including compressed air, Local Exhaust Ventilation systems (LEV) and power generation. 
  • Ensure effective maintenance of all equipment. 
  • Develop maintain and implement planned maintenance schedules and routines for all equipment. 
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is operationally safe and complies with the relevant legislation. 
  • Maintain all records, documentation and literature in compliance with safety, health, environmental and Company quality standards.
  • Work in cooperation with operations to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing process. 
  • Participate with information sharing and team working, supporting any activities undertaken within the Company including providing technical knowledge and advice. 
  • Provide and implement technical solutions to continuously improve the manufacturing process. 
  • Contribute to the production of the highest quality products, good customer service and their continuous improvements. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria  
  • NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering Time-served electrical and/or mechanical engineer Previous experience in an industrial maintenance environment. 
  • Proven knowledge and experience of fault finding and repair, within a manufacturing environment. 
  • Knowledge and experience of the implementation of good health, safety and environmental practice. 
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work effectively on own initiative without supervision, and positively contribute within a team environment. 
  •  Flexibility to perform various tasks, breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance and project work. 
  • Computer literate Able to work overtime as required. 
Desirable Criteria 
  • 3 years post apprenticeship experience in an industrial maintenance environment. 
  • Experience in robotics, overhead travel cranes and fabrication equipment.
