Human Resources Assistant-Remote
James Moore Advisory is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support our HR Consulting Services team. This fully remote position is well-suited for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a supportive, fast-moving environment, enjoys working independently, and finds satisfaction in the steadiness of project/task-focused work.
Location: Fully remote. Priority given to applicants residing in the Southeastern United States.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in HR practices and a solid understanding of employment laws across the U.S. They must demonstrate sound judgment in identifying reputable sources for legal and regulatory guidance and be capable of interpreting and applying this information accurately in client-facing work.
This role requires someone who is:

- Adaptable to shifting priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in human resources or a related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems
- Understanding of HR regulations, functions, and best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of initiative and problem-solving ability
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards
Key Responsibilities
- Support HR Consultants with client projects and HR tasks
- Create and update employee handbooks and HR policies
- Assist with recruitment coordination and pre-employment checks
- Research and interpret HR compliance updates across multiple states
- Maintain client records and ensure documentation compliance
- Assist with audits, benefits administration, performance management, onboarding/offboarding, and training coordination
- Respond to routine HR inquiries and escalate complex issues
- Prepare client communications and HR updates
- Track and report on client engagement and HR metrics
- Provide administrative support including scheduling, file management, and document preparation
- Collaborate with internal teams and contribute to process improvements
