The IT Manager II - Application Services position is responsible for successful delivery of WRG (Western Reserve Group) IT solutions. This includes management of assigned application portfolios, leading strategic IT initiatives, and supervision of a team of resources. In addition, the IT Manager II - Application Services will manage all aspects of their assignments, including leading, planning, estimating, budgeting, and managing the daily activities of their team. This role works collaboratively with business units and IT partners to define the work to be completed and secures the appropriate resources to deliver high quality results.
Salary Grade (17) 109,278 - 142,062 - 174,844

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Determine the appropriate resource allocation of direct reports in coordination with various teams and stakeholders to support projects, maintenance, and support activities.
  • Maintain a skilled staff by recruiting, selecting, and coaching employees. Develop and manage staff goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify business needs that should be addressed through the assigned projects. Positions project teams to fulfill these needs by providing direction about scope, timetables, and desired benefits.
  • Steward critical enterprise investments and drive the delivery of transformational change by providing leadership and direction to assigned portfolio or strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of WRG’s software delivery lifecycle, developing processes and procedures that lead to more effective solutions.
  • Support the development and execution of WRG’s strategic vision, including the identification of key IT initiatives and the determination of budgetary needs to deliver those initiatives.
  • Lead project teams to the successful delivery of business functionality, using defined project management processes.
  • Manage the expectations of project stakeholders and communicate status on a timely basis. This includes program and/or portfolio status, when requested.
  • Create and maintain a project schedule, moving it from high level estimates to a baseline schedule, which creates time and budget predictability. Communicate any changes and/or challenges with meeting the schedule to all relevant parties.
  • Identify and mitigate identified risks and issues, proactively taking steps to prepare for unexpected results or findings. Continuously inform project leadership of changes to scope, schedule, budget, or results based on team input. The role includes managing the prioritization of incoming work and working with WRG senior management to resolve delivery challenges.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for performance management and salary administration of direct reports
  • Optimize and grow team talents by providing leadership, coaching, training, career development, performance evaluation and process improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring direct reports adhere to departmental policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the supervision of 3rd party contractors

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology discipline or related field of study and have a background in software development with a minimum of seven (7) years’ supervisory experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • The individual must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with agencies, departmental, and company personnel via telephone, e-mail, and one on one dialogue in a highly professional manner.
